Nonviolent communication (NVC) asserts that human nature is compassionate. Create relationships where both sides naturally want to contribute to one another’s well-being. In doing so, every relationship becomes more real and meaningful, including the one with yourself. Become informed about the four components of nonviolent communication:
- Communicating objective observations, not subjective evaluations
- Expressing your feelings, not your thoughts
- Tuning into your needs, not your strategies for attaining them
- Making requests about what you want instead of demands
NVC is about connecting with yourself and others from the heart. It is about seeing the humanity in everyone and recognizing commonalities and differences to find ways to make life wonderful for yourself and others.
