Americans, more than ever, are becoming aware that racism still exists despite the fact that you were told that you live in a post-racial America. There are all forms of bias, bigotry, prejudice, and racism. Silent prejudice, such as locking the doors in your car if you see two black youths cross the street toward your car, is a common form of racism. While you may not become anti-racist overnight, you can gain a deeper appreciation about sensitive issues such as how people of color feel about navigating life.
Gain an understanding about the concept of biases and how they are formed.
Recognize what emotions trigger bigotry that often lead toward hatred and racism. Gain insight on how prejudice of others is formed in your own personality and how microaggressions are felt by other people, even unintentionally. Reshape your interpersonal and individual understanding, empathy, and attitude to become more inclusive in being part of the solution for equality for all people of color.
