Somatics is any practice that uses the mind-body connection to help you survey your internal Self and listen to signals your body sends about areas of pain, discomfort, or imbalance. Your body speaks to you all the time. Sometimes, it is very clear when it signals that you are cold or thirsty. Other times, your body might catch you off guard with pain, the muscle equivalent of yelling, seemingly out of the blue. Gain an understanding about your body before it needs to shout, and find out how to soothe and calm it when it does need your attention.
Improve your internal communication skills by learning muscle language.
Recognize how thought forms and emotions settle in different areas of your body. Improve your understanding of why tension is harder to get rid of in some muscles than others. Build your physical/mental body dictionary. When your mind understands what your body is saying, it is easier to reduce or even avoid pain to stay focused on enjoying life.
