Zhànzhuāng—which means post-standing—is a training method comprised of static postures. Created more than 2000 years ago, it is part of a tradition of self-cultivation.

As you stand still in specific postures, your breath moves into the lower dantian below your navel. Your breathing eases and promotes homeostasis and overall wellbeing. Your body responds by generating dopamine and serotonin which decrease anxiety.

With Zhànzhuāng, you can improve your posture, balance, circulation, and coordination.

The practice aligns your spine and increases your energy and vitality. It reduces stress and anxiety and helps calm your mind. In addition, you can improve your immune function through increased circulation.

Explore the sensations in your body as you experience four basic postures. When you draw your attention inward as you hold each position for two to four minutes, you may notice subtle changes within you. End the routine with a sequence to maximize the benefits and prepare you to return to everyday life. Please wear loose-fitting clothing.
