Deep Listening
Forever improve and change how you communicate
Annette Jo Giarrante, MDIV, CPCC
Deep listening is a life skill that will forever change how you communicate. Nothing feels better than to feel like you are being listened to, but most people don’t know how to be really present or how to respond to the person to whom you are listening. Deep listening skills enable you to grow in self awareness, become present to yourself and others, live more fully in the moment, and relate more effectively with those you come in contact with on a daily basis. Develop skills to attend more carefully and compassionately to others. Explore and practice reflective listening and responding skills. Whether you are interacting with someone at home or at work, these two particular skills are critical and essential for good communication. Find out how to accurately listen to others and to skillfully respond in a way that helps to establish trust, build relations, enhance self-esteem, and consequently enable you to live a more compassionate life. This is a thoughtful process not based on one way to respond. Deep listening takes practice but once you achieve how to listen you will find a tremendous improvement in your relationships.
